From our humble beginnings as a canoe trip between a few friends in 1972,
the Saco River Boys has grown into an eagerly awaited annual tradition.
The Saco River Boys have gathered on the banks of the mighty Saco River
every Spring, for over 40 years. Our group is made up of men ranging
in age from 18 to 89, of various backgrounds, nationalities, and religions.
We come from all walks of life and professions, including lawyers,
engineers, retirees, teachers, chefs, military, craftsmen, geologists,
entrepreneurs, construction, fathers, sons, grandsons, son-in-laws,
brothers, and more. Some of us live within New England, but many
of us travel from as far as Montana, New York, North Carolina,
and Nova Scotia, Canada and the Dominican Republic.
We all share the same goals: to take a break from the daily grind,
consume copius amounts of great food, and make life-long friendships,
all within the serene environment of the Saco River. |
